Soroptimist Grant to Aid Woman’s Studies

Delia Salazar of Simi Valley was honored with the Women’s Opportunity Award given by the Soroptimist International of the Conejo. Salazar, 26, a single mother of two children, will use the $1,000 award to complete her licensed vocational nurse training at Simi Valley Adult School. The award program aids women who need further education to upgrade skills or to reenter the work force.

Leads Club Announces Its New Officers

* The Thousand Oaks Chapter of the Leads Club announced it has selected new officers: director, Jane Blackwelder; assistant director, Donald Dondad; recorder, Terry Piper.

The Leads Club offers members the opportunity to market their products and services by building strategic alliances with other businesspeople.

Car Club Donates to Youth Organizations

* Ojai Backstreet Rods car club, using proceeds from its annual fund-raising car show, contributed $300 each to the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation and Concerned Resource and Environmental Workers. The nonprofit youth foundation was recently created to implement Ojai’s Youth Master Plan through youth leadership. The workers group provides work experience and character-building for youths through conservation work.
