Kenneth Starr

Kenneth Starr, the perpetual independent counsel, claims that he is working tirelessly to conclude his investigations of President and Mrs. Clinton. However, he apparently has enough free time to act as a private attorney representing Hughes Aircraft in an appeal to the Supreme Court to overthrow a decision by a lower court that was favorable to 10,000 retired Hughes employees (April 28).

Starr claims that the retirees were after a “pot of gold to which they are not entitled.” By filing his appeal, the decision will be put off for at least another year, during which time Starr and his client can hope that some of the retired workers will die.

Meanwhile, Starr will continue to pursue the Clintons, Monica Lewinsky and her mother while doing all he can to keep Susan McDougal in chains and behind bars. Cost: $40 million and counting. Talk about a pot of gold!

Let me see if I understand. Starr says the methods he is using to investigate the president are “standard” investigative methods. Didn’t the IRS say the same thing?
