Kaczynski Sentence

Share

To sentence Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski to a life term of solitary confinement (May 6) fails to recognize that he had put himself into solitary confinement in his cabin, far from civilization. For this character to escape the death penalty for his devious, evil efforts to kill particular individuals just proves how unjust the death penalty procedure is in this country--and I support the death penalty.

* A hero is someone who saves lives. A superhero is someone who turns his own brother in to do so.

Lives were spared because of David Kaczynski’s actions. I hope he takes comfort in the fact that the favor was returned.

NORA BARSUK

* The grief and anguish that plague those stricken with paranoid schizophrenia, as well as that of their families and friends, is exacerbated by the expectation of normalcy. The illness supersedes a person’s ability to understand the depth of another’s emotions.

We cannot expect the desperately mentally ill to behave “normally.” As a civilized society, we must provide protection for them in a sheltered, therapeutic environment before the bombings begin, and sadly after, as well.
