Share

The Midtown Community Council has set meetings this week on a supermarket construction proposal and on developing a vision of the neighborhood’s future.

Plans to build an Albertsons grocery store will be discussed Wednesday night at Ventura High School.

At the meeting, opinions will be solicited on an Albertsons proposal to build a store on a city-owned parking lot between Thompson Boulevard, Main Street and Katherine and Borchard drives.

The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school’s Little Theater.

The council’s regular monthly meeting will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Cooper Hall at Grace Baptist Church.

A workshop is planned on a series of city-sponsored meetings being held to chart the community’s vision for the midtown area. Council members are reviewing everything from street landscaping and architectural designs to paving.

The workshops come as city officials consider turning the neighborhood’s business corridors into Ventura’s next redevelopment area.

Grace Baptist Church is at 65 MacMillan Ave.
