The Postal Service will issue a stamp next year seeking to encourage early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.

Postmaster General Marvin Runyon announced the stamp Monday as the agency prepares to issue a special increased-rate stamp to raise money to combat breast cancer. The breast cancer stamp, due out in August, will sell for more than a normal stamp, with the extra money going toward research.

That stamp was issued at the direction of Congress. The prostate cancer stamp is intended only to raise public awareness, not money.
