Cityhood Forum Open to Residents

Aliso Viejo Cityhood 2000 will host a community forum at 7 tonight on its plans for incorporation. The meeting, at the Aliso Viejo Public Library, will be the second in a series designed to inform residents about cityhood.

It will include a panel discussion led by members of Santa Rancho Margarita’s cityhood committee, Lake Forest City Councilman Richard T. Dixon and Laguna Niguel Mayor Linda Lindholm.

Members of the Aliso Viejo cityhood organization say they are confident about reaching their goal for incorporation within the next two years.

“Residents need to see what they might expect from a city,” said Tom Marshall, a Cityhood 2000 organizer.

Benefits of incorporation, he said, include local control of tax revenue and greater influence on regional issues. “The feasibility of that happening is looking better now than it did last year,” Marshall said.
