End to Ban Sought in Bombing Case

From Times Wire Reports

Federal prosecutors in the Oklahoma City bombing trial asked a judge to lift a ban that prevents them from cooperating with a state prosecutor and grand jury investigating the same crime. The ban was put into effect by the trial judge in Denver to minimize the amount of case information publicized in the media. Because the bombing trials are over, “the authority and justification for restricting federal cooperation with the state no longer exist,” said the motion filed by the prosecutors. Lawyers for Timothy J. McVeigh and Terry L. Nichols argued the ban should remain until all appeals are exhausted.
