Taliban Jets Bomb Market, Foes Report
From Times Wire Reports
Taliban jet fighters bombed a crowded market in the north, killing at least 30 people and wounding nearly 50 others, a spokesman for opposition soldiers said. Jets screamed in low over Taloqan, about 150 miles north of Kabul, the capital. The deadliest bomb landed in the middle of a food market where dozens were shopping, said Mohammed Arif, a spokesman for ousted President Burhanuddin Rabbani. Taliban-run radio said the militia’s jets bombed military installations but didn’t report bombs landing in a market.
