Share

The city of Ventura is accepting applications to participate in its 23rd annual Street Fair, to be held July 4 in the downtown area.

About 40,000 people are expected to attend the eight-block festival, which will feature a large arts-and-crafts show, six stages with entertainment, and the traditional “Pushem-Pullem” children’s parade.

This year’s parade theme is “My Friends in the Garden.” There are no motorized vehicles in the procession, and children, usually with parents, pull or ride wagons or bicycles decorated in red, white and blue.

Nonprofit organizations and restaurants are invited to participate as food vendors. They must provide their own booths and a food product that does not conflict with what others are selling. The fee is $75 plus 10% of all gross earnings over $300.

Nonprofit groups can also participate by displaying or selling packaged items from the sidewalk. Food may not be prepared in those spaces. The fee is $35 to display only and $45 for sales.

The arts-and-crafts show typically attracts 500 or so participants. Nonresident fees are $95 to $125, while residents can expect to pay $65 to $95.

Arts-and-crafts applicants are placed on a first-come, first-served basis, while other vendors must apply by June 13.
