Property Damaged, Boy Hurt in Spree

More than a dozen homes and cars were damaged and a young boy was hit by smashed glass in what Ventura police described as a late-night vandalism rampage that stretched across the city.

The string of rock and spray paint attacks began late Friday and stretched into Saturday morning, police said.

Homes from Poli Street in midtown to Bryn Mawr Street on the city’s east end were vandalized, police said. A young boy was hit in the eye by flying glass after a rock smashed the window of his home, Police Lt. David Inglis said. The boy did not require hospitalization, police said.

Along the way, numerous homes and cars had windows broken or were spray painted.

Police speculated that juveniles were responsible, but said they were still gathering information from residents on nine streets.

“It went from almost one end of town to the other,” Inglis said. “This happens every once in a while, where young kids or young adults get wild.”
