Emotional Ills of Kids --the Facts

Share

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is offering free brochures about children’s mental health.

About one in every 10 children--or as many as 6 million youngsters in the U.S.--may suffer from a serious emotional disturbance, such as severe depression, conduct disorder, anxiety disorder, phobias, panic disorder or manic-depressive illness. The stigma attached to these and other mental disorders further isolates these children and their families, say mental health experts. For a free brochure, call (800) 789-2647 or visit HHS’ Web site at https://www.mentalhealth.org.
