Children’s Group Loses Its Director

Share

The director of a local nonprofit organization that helps children has resigned to resume his law career. Bill Turpit, 44, helped the board of directors launch Families-Costa Mesa in 1996 and turned it into an organization that refers poor children and their families to various charities and social services agencies when they need help.

He planned to spend a year in the position but remained for 18 months. “It’s difficult to leave,” Turpit said. “I’ve developed so many relationships with staff and the community.”

Turpit said he plans to work for a firm in Irvine practicing real estate law. Turpit will continue serving on Families’ community advisory committee and on the boards of Todos Hermanos and the Latino Business Council.
