3Com Corp. said Ross Manire, senior vice president of the telecommunications carrier business unit at the No. 2 computer-networking company, will resign from the company effective this week. Irfan Ali, vice president of marketing for the carrier unit, will head its operations until a replacement is hired. Manire, one of the last remaining executives who joined 3Com when it purchased US Robotics Corp. in June 1997, is leaving for personal reasons.
