‘Waterboy’ Makes Splash in U.S. Run

The low-budget comedy “The Waterboy” should join “Rush Hour” and “There’s Something About Mary” as one of the year’s few movies that turn a profit on its domestic theatrical run alone.

Fox’s “The Siege” looks to be only a modest performer that will have to wait for its foreign release and video sales to reach break-even.

“Living Out Loud” should recoup its modest costs for New Line. And Artisan’s drama “Belly” should ring out a small profit.

Note a change in designation for “Bride of Chucky,” for which Universal sold off foreign rights. The hit-parched studio should emerge with a profit on the horror sequel.
