The Irvine parent company of National Telephone & Communications lost $5.5 million, or 28 cents a share, for the third quarter, compared with a loss of $9.6 million, or 70 cents a share, for the comparable period last year. Revenue declined 61% to $12.9 million from $33.3 million. The company said the net loss for the quarter included nonrecurring charges of $7.8 million that were mostly offset by nonoperating gains of $6.3 million.
