The Armed Services YMCA is inviting local families to “adopt” one of the 900 Camp Pendleton Marines, who will have just one day off at Thanksgiving and Christmas before heading back into the field. Military men and women will be placed in local homes where they can share a meal and fellowship with a family on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Host families and volunteers can register by calling the Nancy Grossnickle at (760) 385-4921. Military personnel also can be sponsored for $15 each. Donations should be sent to the AS/YMCA, Box 555028, Building 1671, Camp Pendleton, CA 92055-5028.
