Dentist Reappointed to Regulatory Board

A Reseda-based dentist has been reappointed to the Board of Dental Examiners of California by Gov. Pete Wilson.

Richard Benveniste, 59, a resident of Beverly Hills, will serve a four-year term on the board beginning next year. The board oversees the practice of all areas of dentistry in California and it licenses and regulates dental schools throughout the state.

“I’m very honored and privileged because I feel that California dentistry is really second to none anywhere in the world,” said Benveniste, who was notified of his reappointment Tuesday.

Benveniste, who has been practicing periodontal dentistry in his office in Reseda since 1970, was appointed to the board in 1995.

His first four-year term expires at the end of this year.

During his next four years, Benveniste said his goals are to ensure the standards of dentistry remain very high and to implement the latest technology into everyday practice. He said he wants to encourage dentists to update themselves in the latest and most efficient methods of dental care.

“I feel that our dental board is made up of some superb people whose ideals are of the highest standards in making sure that California dentistry stays the best in the world,” Benveniste said. “To be part of this team is truly an honor.”

Members of the board do not receive salaries, Benveniste said.
