Police Grant to Fund Improvements, Hiring
The police department will use a $333,605 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to hire six dispatchers and pay for infrastructure improvements.
Funded through the COPS MORE program, the additional communications operators will be better able to handle 911 emergency calls, nonemergency calls and radio traffic between the stations and field units.
The money also will help to update the department’s Internet connection and fund server improvements.
