Mental Illness Group Hosts Awareness Walk
A candlelight walk and vigil in honor of Mental Illness Awareness Week will be held at 6:45 p.m. today in Ventura.
The Ventura County Alliance for the Mentally Ill estimates that one out of every five families in the county will be affected by severe mental illness. The alliance is working to increase understanding of diseases such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The alliance is sponsoring the event, which will begin in front of Ventura City Hall.
Other events will take place throughout the week. An awards dinner is Tuesday. For information call 641-2426 or 526-0766.
