Diversity in Responses

Your topic, “How Do We Strengthen Reading?” (Valley Voices, Sept. 27) was fine. But as I read through it, I noticed that all the parents quoted were mothers. Homemakers no less.

There’s nothing wrong with being a homemaker, but very few women have the luxury of not needing a job and being able to stay at home. What’s more, half of the parents are fathers. I suggest that next time you look for diversity in responses.

I’m only 11, but even I could see the irony of the article being printed right next to an article about female rights.
