Thanks for a pleasant surprise: Jim DeHarpporte’s plea for revamping the system of international capital (Commentary, Sept. 28).

Anyone who reads beyond the cheerleading of the corporate owned-U.S. media will recognize DeHarpporte’s critique to be true, even understated: Global capitalism, proselytized by our transnational corporations and the IMF, favors the rich. The whole purpose of the West’s extensive market infrastructure is precisely to channel the wealth of the world into the pockets of the tiny minority that has capital to invest, while leaving the rest of the population to die, kill each other, waste away.

Only thus can our opulent class of “welfare kings” live like sultans without having to labor or create a single particle of wealth themselves.
