Medical Center Plans Depression Screening

Share

The St. Jude Medical Center will offer free depression evaluations Thursday, in recognition of National Depression Screening Day.

Mental health professionals will discuss the causes, symptoms and treatments of the disease, as well as conduct an anonymous written screening test.

This is the first year St. Jude Medical Center will participate.

Depression and manic-depression affect more than 17 million Americans each year, officials said. The disease strikes people of all ages, but especially senior citizens, said Dr. Justine Petrie, of the St. Jude Medical Center.

The depression screening will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Erikson Education Center. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling (714) 992-3059.
