Forum to Air Ideas About Policy for Surf Contests
- Share via
Surfers and other residents can speak their minds about the abundance of organized surfing events on city beaches at a public meeting today.
The Community Services Department scheduled the forum after surfers began complaining to city officials that professional contests were closing the beach to locals too many weekends out of the year.
The department is developing a policy on the issue to present to the Community Services Commission, city officials said. Comments made at today’s meeting could influence the schedule of surfing events for 1999.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Room B8 of City Hall, 2000 Main St.
Written comments will also be accepted: Community Services Department, Surfing Policy Committee, 2000 Main St., Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
