Volunteers Needed for Telephone Checks
The Senior Center is launching a “telephone reassurance program” to arrange for volunteers to check on seniors living alone. Buena Park residents who are over 55 years old can arrange for calls to be made daily or weekly and also receive referrals for other services. The program is free.
The center also needs volunteers to make the calls. They will be trained, but must be able to communicate well over the telephone and be able to commit at least six months to the program.
Training will be offered from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 29 at the senior center.
