MBNA Corp., the largest independent U.S. credit card company, said its third-quarter earnings rose 26% to $216.6 million, or 27 cents a share, in line with analyst estimates.

CompUSA Inc. said sales at stores open at least a year fell 1.7% in the fiscal first quarter on lower PC prices and slower sales to corporations. The computer retailer plans to release its earnings in early November.

Viacom Inc. said revenue at its Blockbuster Entertainment stores open at least a year jumped 18% in the third quarter, as the video rental chain continued to benefit from agreements with studios that put more copies of hit movies on the shelves.
