Help Sought in Hit-Run Probe

Police are seeking public help in finding the drivers of two vehicles involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed an Anaheim man who was riding his bike to work.

Alejandro Cardenas Gonzalez, 57, a father of five, was struck early Monday by two vehicles and both drivers fled the scene.

Police are searching for a mid-1990s model, two-door, teal-colored Honda Civic believed to have been involved in the collision, said Investigator Rick Alexander. The Honda most likely has damage to the front end, hood, windshield and roof, Alexander said.

“We’ve checked the neighborhood and haven’t been able to find anything,” Alexander said.

Police are also searching for more details about the second vehicle, described as a full-size, older-model van with tinted windows.

Gonzalez, a 13-year employee of the Anaheim Marriott hotel, was riding his bicycle to work when he was hit by the vehicles on West Orangewood Avenue near Harbor Boulevard.

The Honda, estimated to be traveling 40 to 45 mph, rear-ended the bicycle.
