Fund Bailout

Regarding “Bailing Out the Billon-Bettors,” Commentary, Oct. 5:

It’s amazing what a few powerful people can get away with. The bailout of Long Term Capital Management may be legal, but to me seems unfair. What the investors got was the equivalent of someone going to a casino, losing all his money and then asking the bank to reimburse him because the gambler has people depending on him (his family). That would never happen.

It might be a simple analogy, but in my mind I can’t think of a better illustration of the way the rich are favored.
