Mayor Calls for City Hall Security Review

Recent violent attacks at government buildings have prompted San Fernando Mayor Raul Godinez II to call for a review of security measures currently in place at City Hall.

City Administrator John Ornelas and Police Chief Dominick Rivetti were directed to review security measures currently in place and report potential security improvements to the City Council at its Oct. 19 meeting.

Godinez said shootings at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., and at City Hall in Riverside have raised concerns about the safety of city officials.

“Government, especially local government, is frequently becoming the target of people’s frustration with the system,” Godinez said. “Cities, being the most accessible form of government, need to be prepared to deal with this increasingly more frustrated public.”
