A team of Los Angeles police officers received plaques Tuesday for beating colleagues from around the world in a pistol shooting competition.

Chief Bernard C. Parks praised 10 officers during a Police Academy ceremony for taking first place in the World Police Pistol Championships, officer Shelly Savage said.

The officers “competed against over 500 of the best police pistol shooters in the world,” said Savage. The competition was held last month in Jackson, Miss.
