Jobs Agency Helping the Homeless Sets Open House
People Assisting the Homeless, a regional agency that helps homeless people find housing and work, will hold an open house today at its main facility in West Los Angeles.
The 14-year-old program provides transitional housing and employment services countywide through offices in South-Central Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Hollywood, said Executive Director Joel Roberts.
The purpose of the open house is to show businesses, churches and individuals how they can help the homeless, Roberts said.
The agency operates a transitional residential facility, where clients can stay for up to three months while job hunting. It also offers employment services to about 450 people a year.
Program participants find full-time, permanent employment in an average of 30 days, for an average salary of $1,500 per month, Roberts said.
The facility’s open house will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at 2346 Cotner Ave.
