Late Flier Skips Security, Snarls Orlando Airport
Hundreds of travelers at the Orlando airport were ordered back through a security checkpoint Friday after a passenger refused to have his bag examined and ran past guards. Dozens of flights were delayed.
The unidentified passenger ran past a metal detector and baggage X-ray machine, telling security guards he was late for a flight, said Chuck Agostinelli, an airport spokesman. He jumped on a tram heading for a terminal before guards could reach him.
Hundreds of passengers waiting for flights at 30 gates in the terminal were ordered back through the metal detectors and X-ray machines.
The passenger apparently got lost in the crowd.
