THOUSAND OAKS — An eclectic mix of art, clothing and entertainment drew thousands to the seventh annual Thousand Oaks Street Fair on Sunday.
Vendors selling items from driftwood art and tri-tip sandwiches lined two blocks of Moorpark Road as entertainment, which included karaoke and country line dancing, helped complete the one-day event, sponsored by the city Rotary Club.
Loretta Birnbrich, a Santa Monica resident and former nuclear physicist who now makes and sells wrought-iron lawn sculptures, said the event showcases the area’s community spirit.
“When I see this many people at a community event, it really shows how much they support the community, how much they are involved,” she said.
Thousand Oaks resident Steve Schwartz said he was not surprised by such a family-friendly event in his city.
With his two daughters in tow, he said, “It’s just part of the way it is.”
“Wherever you go it’s like this,” his wife, Stefanie, added.
