Hurricane Heading Toward Mazatlan
Associated Press
MAZATLAN, Mexico —
Officials warned residents on Mexico’s western Pacific coast to prepare for Hurricane Madeline after the storm changed course Sunday and headed for this resort city.
A penal colony on Maria Madre Island, about 100 miles to the south, was expected to be the first to feel Madeline’s 85-mph wrath.
Just south of Mazatlan, authorities in neighboring Nayarit state went house to house to warn people about the hurricane.
