Next Tuesday, as part of the new Southern California Living section, staff writer Barbara Thomas profiles Edie Wasserman, fund-raiser extraordinaire, who on the eve of her 83rd birthday is working tirelessly on behalf of the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the health care and retirement organization for the entertainment world.

“Our only problem is getting younger people helping,” Wasserman says. “It’s very hard to convince them they will need it.”
