Key to Women’s Heart Deaths Found

Women suffer more severe first heart attacks than men, according to a study that suggests that the severity of the attacks--not older age or worse medical care--may explain why women die more often when stricken. The new study, published in today’s Journal of the American Medical Assn. in Chicago, found that the attacks themselves appear to be more severe, as evidenced by lethal elements, such as severe rhythm problems or cardiac shock.
