Chevron Corp. named for the first time a woman to head a major company division. Patricia Woertz, 45, was promoted to president of Chevron’s U.S. refining and marketing business, Chevron Products Co. She will replace David O’Reilly, who was named company vice chairman and elected to the board. Woertz’s promotion makes her the highest-ranking female executive in the San Francisco-based company. Woertz currently serves as vice president of logistics and trading for Chevron Products. She also served as president of Chevron International Oil Co. in 1996. As president of Chevron Products, Woertz will run one of America’s biggest refining and marketing companies, with 8,600 employees, 8,000 service stations and six major refineries. Chevron shares fell 63 cents to close at $78.50 on the NYSE.
