Whittaker Sells Aviant Unit to Reduce Debt

Whittaker Corp. in Simi Valley has sold its integration services unit, Aviant Information Inc., to Enterprise Consulting Group Inc., a subsidiary of Superior Consultant Holdings Corp., based in Michigan.

Proceeds from the $5.1-million sale will be used to further reduce Whittaker’s $75-million debt, a company spokesman said.

“The sale of Aviant completes our previously announced strategy of focusing on our strengths in the aerospace industry and concludes our involvement in the computer networking and integration business,” said Joseph F. Alibrandi, chairman and chief executive. “We will now devote our full attention and energies to our strong core aerospace business.”

Whittaker develops fluid control and fire safety systems for aerospace and industrial applications.
