Workshop to Look at Volunteer Help

A workshop designed to teach people how to recruit volunteers for their organizations will be held Sept. 25 in Camarillo.

The workshop will be presented in the form of a panel whose members will address issues dealing with volunteer work, including recruitment, screening, placement and development. They will also discuss ways to motivate and retain volunteers.

The panel will include representatives from Amgen, Executive Service Corps., Prudential Insurance Co. of America and the Ventura County Volunteer Coordinators Council.

The workshop is being sponsored by the Ventura County Community Foundation and United Way.

The Community Foundation is a charitable group that encourages local philanthropy to address local problems. The United Way is a community organization that helps fund and provides technical support to a broad range of human and health-care services delivered by more than 62 agencies in Ventura County.

The workshop will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the foundation’s Resource Center for Nonprofit Organizations at 1317 Del Norte Road. The deadline for reservations is Sept. 21 and a fee is involved.
