Plans in Doubt on Eve of Youth March

It will be a Million Youth March in name only: Organizers expect about 50,000 people, far from original predictions, and demonstrators will be bound in a court-restricted six-block area of New York. Regardless, the number of people who show up and the restrictions placed on them are subplots to the explosive issue of the march’s message, and how it will affect racial relations in this ethnically diverse city. With the march a day away, there was confusion as to what would happen. As of Friday afternoon, organizers did not have contracts to build a stage, to use sound amplification or electricity, city officials said.
