Just Another Form of Sexual Harassment

Share

In skimming the Aug. 2 letters page, I was shocked to read the mail about exhibitionism. While I’m glad I missed the article about the nude man in public, the letters served as a reminder of my childhood, when I was confronted by this seemingly “victimless” crime on three occasions between the ages of 7 and 15. The events are clearly etched in my memory.

I don’t know why the white-haired man in the article or perverts like those from my childhood do what they do. I see no reasonable explanation.

I do know that no good purpose is served by glorifying the crime of exhibitionism, which is neither harmless or victimless. It is sexual harassment and emotional abuse and could very easily lead to something more devastating.
