Rockwell Unit to Buy Systems Manufacturer

Share

Costa Mesa-based Rockwell International Corp. said Tuesday that its automation unit will buy Anorad Corp. for an undisclosed sum.

Anorad, headquartered in Hauppauge, N.Y., makes linear motor technology systems, which are used by manufacturers to move parts from one location to another more efficiently. This type of technology has been adopted by electronics makers, who depend on precision movements and a sterile environment for their manufacturing facilities.

The deal will help Rockwell’s automation group, based in Milwaukee, expand its position in the motion control market, officials said. Pending regulatory approval, the buyout is expected to be completed by this fall.
