Man Arraigned in Killings of 8 Women
A former school employee whose home in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was found to contain eight decaying women’s bodies was arraigned on murder charges as the women’s family members wailed and lashed out at him in court. Kendall Francois, 27, was arraigned on one count of second-degree murder in the strangling of 25-year-old Catina Newmaster. Over the last week, police have removed the bodies from the Francois home. Dist. Atty. William Grady said the bodies were buried or hidden in the attic, basement and crawl space. He said a police officer who went to the home was overwhelmed by the stench but did not find sufficient cause for a search warrant.
