Can’t find that shoe box of receipts from 1984? Worried that Uncle Sam is going to take your new car if you don’t? Help is available.

The Internal Revenue Service will hold another Problem Solving Day on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its office in Santa Ana.

Taxpayers will be able to sit down with an IRS problem-solver to resolve tax issues.

Three one-hour workshops on various topics also are scheduled the same day for small-business owners: starting a business and record-keeping at 10:30 a.m.; deductible expenses for home-based businesses at noon; and reporting profit or loss for small businesses at 2:30 p.m.

“Since we started Problem Solving Day last November, we have assisted over 2,000 Southern California taxpayers,” said Dan Black, acting director for the IRS Southern California district.

Appointments are recommended for individual meetings and can be made by calling (949) 360-2178.

The IRS Santa Ana office is at 34 Civic Center Plaza.
