Boy Kind of Glad He Returned Lost Jewels
An 11-year-old Florida boy said Thursday that he returned a briefcase full of jewels to its rightful owner because his mother told him to and that he was glad, even if a little disappointed, that he had done the right thing.
William Hand, who found the briefcase two weeks ago in a Jacksonville restaurant parking lot, learned he will get a $500 savings bond each Christmas until he is 18 from the owner of the jewels, Jean Peabody of San Angelo, Texas.
“Mom says I can use some of it for college,” William said. “Maybe there’ll be enough for a bicycle too.”
