9 Suspects in Omagh Bombing Arrested

Police hunting bombers who killed 29 people in the Northern Irish town of Omagh last month arrested nine people in dawn raids north and south of the Irish border. Three men were seized in the Irish Republic, and six other men were arrested in a dawn swoop in British-ruled Northern Ireland, police in Dublin and Belfast said. The suspects were held under tough new laws rushed through the British and Irish parliaments to crush splinter groups opposed to Northern Ireland’s peace deal, signed in April.
