Enforcement of Laws

Share

* I am concerned about the break-down in the respect for the law that I witness daily in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Laws are made but not enforced. What does this teach the young people and new citizens in our city about the importance of obeying the law?

Right now I am being bombarded with my regular 3-hour Friday morning dose of the roaring of non-muffled lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers (which are illegal). I do not allow my gardener to use the blowers and pay him extra not to do so.

When I go out in my car, I am threatened by cars riding my bumper and honking at me because I obey the speed limit laws and give pedestrians the right-of-way. Even when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, I get honked at for not running them over. I think it is quite likely that I may be shot because I obey these laws.

Our city streets, freeways and neighborhoods are lawless, in large part, because while we have laws, they are not enforced.
