Clifton Leonard Brandt; World War II Veteran

Thousand Oaks resident Clifton Leonard Brandt died at KaiserPermanente Hospital in Woodland Hills after suffering from pneumonia that was complicated by diabetes. He was 78.

Brandt was born May 27, 1920, to Leonard Edward Brandt and Grace D. Myers in Stacy, Minn. Brandt was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps from January 1941 to September 1945.

Brandt traveled throughout the United States and abroad, his family said.

For 15 years, he worked as a test administrator for Los Angeles County.

Brandt was described by his stepbrother, Carlos Chavez of Thousand Oaks, as a decent and caring man. He died Aug. 4.

Brandt was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Love. He is survived by two sons, Gerald Brandt of Anchorage and Ron Brandt of Vista.

Brandt was buried at sea off the coast of Los Angeles. The Neptune Society of Los Angeles in Burbank handled the arrangements.
