Crespi Takes Out Frustration on Quartz Hill Pitchers, 12-0

After being shut out earlier in the week, Crespi High jump-started its offense on Saturday, pounding 20 hits against two Quartz Hill pitchers for a 12-0 victory in a consolation game of the St. Paul tournament at Valley College.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Crespi’s outburst was more than enough for Mike Jackson (4-1). The left-hander, who has signed with Gonzaga, pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk.

Crespi (10-3) was stifled by Jason Brown of Paraclete in a 6-0 first-round loss on Thursday.

But the scoreless streak didn’t last long, with the Celts blitzing Jeremy Garstka (0-1) of Quartz Hill (3-10) with eight runs in the first inning.

Joel Garcia, Max Flaum and Kris Palomares each had three hits for Crespi.

Jackson had two hits and two runs batted in.

St. Francis 13, El Modena 9--Ariel Bellofiore had three hits and five RBIs and the Golden Knights (4-7) won in a St. Paul tournament second-round game at St. Paul.

Bellofiore struck out five and allowed two hits in an 11-1, six-inning victory over St. Monica earlier in the day.

The game was called because of the 10-run rule.

Ryan Brown and Bellofiore each had two hits against St. Monica.

Burroughs 13, La Mirada 2--Spencer Steward pitched a five-hitter, striking out nine and walking two for the Indians in a St. Paul tournament victory at La Mirada.

Jesse Perez and Jesse Dominguez each had three hits for Burroughs (7-7).

Seattle Eastside Catholic 13, Paraclete 3--The Spirits jumped to a 3-0 lead after half an inning, but were shut out the rest of the way in a second-round game of St. Paul tournament at Valley College.

Rob Fockaert and Joey Rispaud each hit run-scoring singles for Paraclete (8-5).

Seattle Eastside Catholic 12, Quartz Hill 10--After loading the bases with nobody out in the top of the seventh, the Rebels left the tying run at second and lost a first-round game in the St. Paul tournament.

Quartz Hill (3-9) led going into the sixth but Eastside scored six times to take a 12-8 lead.

Richmond McMurray of Quartz Hill hit a two-run triple.

Fountain Valley 5, Westlake 3--Garett Michaels hit a two-run home run in the first inning but the Warriors (8-2-1) lost in a first-round game of the Corona del Mar tournament at Estancia High.

Camarillo 10, Agoura 6--Justin Collins had four hits for the Scorpions (9-2) and Jon Gonzalez recorded a strikeout with the bases loaded to earn a save in a nonleague game at Agoura.

Michael of Agoura (3-7-1) Falco extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a home run in the fourth.

Alemany 8-7, San Dimas 5-11--Edgar Moreno, Tim Cantu and Robert Harrick each drove in two runs to help the Indians (6-5) win the first game of a nonleague doubleheader at Alemany.
