What Else Could Be Blamed on Y2K Bug?

Even scarier than the upcoming ‘00s is the possibility that the multitudinous government agencies, financial institutions and corporate, business and service agencies will use the Y2K computer glitches as an “excuse” to withhold and/or mismanage money and services and cause who knows what catastrophes [“Now for Another Daunting Y2K Task: Educating America’s Masses,” Digital Nation, March 1].

It has been many years since the need for computer upgrading was known, with plenty of time to have done so. We now have a lot of hand-wringing and hurry-up fixing and the need to “alert, educate and prepare” the public for what, the unknown? That’s scary!
