From Times Wire Reports

The largest military trial in Egypt’s crackdown on Islamic militants ended with nine people sentenced to death for belonging to an outlawed group allegedly trying to topple the government. Eleven more defendants were sentenced to life at hard labor for being members of the group, Islamic Jihad, which assassinated President Anwar Sadat in 1981. Sixty-seven others were sentenced to terms ranging from one to 15 years in prison, and 20 were acquitted. The trial was denounced by human rights groups.
